Naturally Natural by Tanyaradzwa A. Rukuwah

Being an au naturel girl in Zimbabwe can be really hard and expensive. The products you want for your hair to grow and skin to flourish are either scarce to find or expensive to buy. Anyone who knows me knows that I keep my hair natural and I tend to keep my skin bare 80% of the time. But because I have eczema, my skin doesn’t agree with a lot of products. That was until one day, when I saw a light at the end of the tunnel and was graced by seeing the Naturally Natural page on IG. I mean it had everything, from hair to skin products. So, me being me (lol), thought I should DM these people and get to know where I can access these products; and how much I can buy them for, if I could afford them (hehehe student budget drama).

A lady by the name OngaiMwari Progress Buta responded to my DMs. Here I was thinking that these products were foreign made but nah fam, these products are proudly Zimbabwean and she was the one making them. After asking her what inspired her to make these products, she told me that she started on the journey to more natural products about 7 years ago because she wanted to look after her natural hair. she was able to learn more about the power of natural oils. Then, when she gave birth, her daughter was born with eczema, dry and very sensitive skin (like me). She was advised by the medical staff to only use organic and natural oils for her. The oils are absorbed by the skin and give more benefits than most commercial baby products. With that, her love for natural products grew. At the young age of 36, she was going through surgically induced menopause. It affected her skin terribly, so she had to go back to the drawing board to find something that agreed with her skin. She started mixing and making her own creams, soaps and oils for both their skin and hair. She even makes room fragrances and body fragrances that are natural and safe. She fell in love with nature and voila, Naturally Natural was born.
